A Study about Starting HIV Therapy is Popular in Minnesota

More than a dozen HIV-infected persons have already enrolled in ACTG 384 at the Minnesota ACTU. This is a study to determine which drug combinations are best for initiating therapy against HIV, how many drugs to use, and what to switch to if the first choices don’t perform well. This research trial provides up to 3 years of free lab tests and free drugs, which may include a potent protease inhibitor (nelfinavir) and a newer reverse transcriptase inhibitor (efavirenz). ACTG 384 should be available at least through August for persons who have yet to start treatment for HIV. Please call 612-625-1462 for more information.
