MN ACTU Researchers Attend National Conference

Dr. Keith Henry and three other researchers from the University of Minnesota ACTU attended the “7th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections” in San Francisco, CA in January. Dr. Henry shared his experiences with the ACTU research team, highlighting many studies looking at antiretroviral therapy regimens. Most of these reports were extensions of data previously presented. Issues such as medication side effects, timing, and long-term use are breeding grounds for hot debate. When to start antiretroviral therapy is now clearly controversial. It also appears that immune-based therapies and a modest selection of new anti-HIV agents are making their way down the pipeline.
