Erice on Leave of Absence from the University of Minnesota

Dr. Alejo Erice, Medical Director of the Minnesota AIDS Clinical Trials Unit Clinic and Principal Investigator of the ACTU Virology Research Laboratory, has been granted a leave of absence from the University of Minnesota effective December 15th. Dr. Erice, presently in Madrid, continues to work on ACTG research projects including several active AACTG protocols and numerous bench research experiments. “He’s keeping in touch with us by e-mail,” said Dr. Henry Balfour, Principal Investigator of the Minnesota AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. “We hope to have him back in town for a few days in February after the 8th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections, which will be held in Chicago.” In Dr. Erice’s absence, Balfour is the acting Principal Investigator for the Virology Research Laboratory, and Dr. Winston Cavert has been appointed ACTU Clinic Director.
