Carol Holman MD, PhD, a Laboratory Medicine and Pathology resident working in our group, has just received the Mario Escobar Outstanding Abstract Travel Award for her research work entitled,”A Semi-Quantitative PCR Assay for Detection of BK Viruria In Immunocompromised Hosts.” Her study will be presented as a poster at the 17th annual Pan American Society for Clinical Virology meeting in Clearwater FL on April 30th. BK virus, a polyoma virus, is a cause of kidney and urinary tract complications in patients after organ or bone marrow transplantation.
