RSV and adenoviruses are still causing sporadic respiratory illnesses in our area, but both influenza and parainfluenza appear to have vanished. The last influenza identified this year was May 13th. We hope to see no more of the flu until late next fall. While there is heightened concern about avian influenza causing an epidemic or pandemic in the near future, hard data on the efficiency of the jump from birds to humans are lacking.
